Tecmilenio’s Master of Business Administration with Finance has been ranked 11th in the list of the top 30 online programs in Spanish, according to the 2023 Spanish-Speaking Online Higher Education Rankings (FSO Rankings).
The university, which is part of Tec de Monterrey, is also #1 in Latin America in the Learning subcategory of the same rankings.
These rankings look at the top 30 online MBAs in Spanish every year, with subcategories for different indicators.
“This result is very important for us, because it’s not the first time we’ve participated,” said María del Carmen Arellano, Tecmilenio’s Seals of Approval Leader.
“We’ve been participating for around 6 years running, and we’ve improved each year,” she added.
Tecmilenio master’s degree recognized for methods and course
Arellano highlights that the Master’s Degree in Business Administration with Finance comes with two key differentiators: its teaching methods and its academic course, both which contributed to it obtaining this high ranking.
“In terms of teaching method, this includes accessibility of learning, monitoring students during the course, the methods used, and the score given by students,” she said.
“The academic course score includes criteria such as designing the syllabus students will learn at an institutional and individual level. Everything from the number of places available on the program to the degree of satisfaction reported is also taken into account,” she added.
“We want to develop the skills that these people need to achieve their goals.”
The program’s student satisfaction rate is 89%.
Through this program, students can also obtain a joint degree from the University of Burgos in Spain.
“(In addition), graduating students take only around 5.2 weeks to find employment and 33% of graduates have reported earning a higher salary than in their previous job,” said Arellano.
Tecmilenio: promoting “lifelong learning” through its online programs
The program stood out at the top of the “Learning” subcategory, the third and final FSO indicator, which has the greatest importance in the survey and a weighting of 50% of the total ranking score.
Arellano emphasized the university’s commitment to continuing education and access to lifelong learning in response to this achievement.
“We deal with the concept of lifelong learning and lifelong learners a lot, so we try to encourage people to continue learning,” she explained.
“We want to develop the skills that these people need to achieve their goals and to continue encouraging people to grow,” she added.
To that end, the leader expressed that the institution has focused on the creation and improvement of easily accessible and flexible programs for those who want to continue their learning later in life.
According to Arellano, the award-winning master’s degree is one of more than 10 graduate programs offered with the vision of providing lifelong access to education.
The first 2 evaluation categories are: Institutions and Stakeholders (teachers and students).
What are the FSO Rankings and what do they evaluate?
The FSO Observatory is a project that has its origins in the FSO Rankings, founded in 2015. It seeks to promote the value of education, the importance of technology in teaching, and the promotion of the Spanish language.
These rankings are prepared by Emagister in collaboration with the Hamilton consulting firm and provide an international list of specialized online higher education programs in Spanish.
Various criteria are evaluated, ranging from the quality of academic material to the employability of graduates, in order to provide a comprehensive view of the strengths of the evaluated universities.
This list includes more than 250 institutions from 30 countries, such as Spain, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Paraguay.
“It’s important that we continue to highlight the achievements of our master’s degrees, because sometimes we think that university finishes after, or is limited to, bachelor’s degrees. The reality is that for many people their higher education is just beginning,” concluded Arellano.
