Executives from Tecnológico de Monterrey, TecSalud, and Houston Methodist Hospital have signed the renewal of the collaboration agreement so they can expand and strengthen their medical and health care services.
The medical institutions will work together on a range of medical leadership services through the interdisciplinary cooperation, including:
- Developing lines of service in cardiology and neuroscience
- Guidelines for creating a nursing center of excellence, and medical and administrative leadership training and education programs
- As well as sharing best practices in areas such as quality metrics, medical services, and hospital operations.
Sharing knowledge and innovating clinical care processes
This agreement will allow TecSalud and Houston Methodist Hospital to share knowledge and experience, in order to create an interdisciplinary exchange across medical and health care fields.
“Through this new partnership, we’re endorsing our commitment to a well-known institution in the field of modern medicine. This collaboration will allow us to strengthen the quality and safety of medical care within our hospitals.

Reinforcing research and innovation in medical and academic fields
Dr. Guillermo Torre, rector of TecSalud and vice president of Research at Tec de Monterrey, pointed out that this partnership will promote indicators of quality across the system.
“This partnership will allow us to reinforce our position as one of the most advanced health care systems in Mexico and Latin America, with a dedicated focus on excellence in patient care.
“It will also allow us to continue undertaking the highest quality research, something which, at the end of the day, translates into innovation in all medical and academic fields,” added Dr. Torre.
Signing the agreement in Houston, Texas
The signing took place in Houston, Texas, and was also attended by Sven Boes, general director of TecSalud Hospitals, and Cathy Easter, president and CEO of Global Health Care at Houston Methodist Hospital.
Boes added that this partnership will expand TecSalud’s vision, while Easter highlighted that her institution is a world leader of excellence in patient care, education, research, and medical innovation.
TecSalud’s San José and Zambrano Hellion Hospitals signed an agreement with the global network of Methodist International hospitals in 2013.
Houston Methodist Hospital has been ranked number 1 in Texas and in Houston for 10 years consecutively by the prestigious U.S. News & World Report magazine.
In 2021, Newsweek magazine included Houston Methodist in the list of the 100 best hospitals in the world.
