Tec’s digital education strategy wins international award

Tec de Monterrey has won the bronze award at The Learning Awards 2026 for its digital education strategy that integrates technology as an engine for transforming teaching practice and student experience in a planned and systematic way.

The Tec received this distinction after presenting the Digital Education Strategy to a jury.

This project showcased the institution’s 2022 results in transforming the way digital education is integrated and deployed at high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels.  

“This award recognizes organizations, not only educational institutions but also companies, that provide education either internally or externally through educational resources.

“It recognizes organizations that have clear evidence of innovation and impact, which have made a contribution within or outside their institution,” said Maribell Reyes, Director of Digital Education at Tec de Monterrey.

Its presentation to the jury took place in November 2025.

The Tec shared “a holistic and inclusive approach that integrates technology into educational models in a planned way —always as a means, not as an end— to enrich teaching practice and the student experience,” said Beatriz Palacios, Director of Educational Innovation and Digital Learning.

The only Latin American project 

The Tec competed in the Digital Learning Transformation category, which evaluates the purpose of the application, evolution of the project, contribution to digital learning, challenges that have been overcome, and technologies used.

Achievements were also shared; all supported by metrics and tangible evidence.

“The jury told us they liked our approach and our project, even though it’s called a digital education strategy. It’s a project that promotes quality learning and ensures that what we do offers value to students.”

“Our project guarantees that students do not go through a digital experience just to use a technological tool, but rather to learn in a better way,” Palacios said.

Tec de Monterrey was the only Latin American university selected as a finalist in the 30th education awards.

“This award represents who we are at Tecnológico de Monterrey: an institution committed to educational quality with the conviction that technology is only one way to achieve excellence,” Palacios added.

More than 800 proposals were submitted in 22 categories from more than 70 countries to this year’s awards.

Tec de Monterrey’s Digital Education Strategy

Unlike other projects focused on technological implementation, the Tec stood out for presenting a holistic strategywhich put the quality and value of learning at the core of its digital transformation.

The strategy is structured around four fundamental pillars:

1. Planning the incorporation of Digital Education into students’ courses to add value to their learning and aid with skills development
2. Integrating digital learning experiences that make use of innovative techno-pedagogies
3. Strengthening teachers’ digital skills
4. Ensuring processes for successful and high-quality implementation

These pillars strengthen skills, connection with the professional environment, accessibility, and personalized learning at all academic levels.
