Tec de Monterrey has been ranked as the top university in Mexico, according to rankings by international evaluation agency Times Higher Education (THE).
In THE World University Rankings 2025, the Tec is ranked #4 in Latin America, alongside Brazilian universities Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio); and Federal University of Rio Grande, as well as Ecuador’s Espiritu Santo University.
“Tecnológico de Monterrey’s vision for the future of our society is based on excellent education, research, and innovation for social and economic transformation,” said Neil Hernández Gress, the Tec’s Research Director.
“The Tec’s position in the THE World University Rankings 2025 is the result of the efforts of our Tec community in contributing to this goal, and we’re extremely proud of it,” he added.
The 2025 rankings
This year, THE rated 2,092 research-intensive universities from over 100 countries, including 22 Mexican institutions, based on 18 performance indicators.
Tec de Monterrey is ranked worldwide between 601-800.
These indicators measure an institution’s performance in five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
In the areas of research environment, research quality, and industry, the Tec is above the world average.
