Tec Review, the magazine from Tec de Monterrey, won gold, silver and bronze medals at the ÑH2018 awards awarded by the Society for News Design (SND) in Ibero-America.
The ÑH2018 awards recognize journalistic design from Spain, Portugal and Latin America, and is organized by the Spanish chapter of the Society for News Design (SND-E) and SND South America.
Tec Review won the gold medal for the Volcano of Fire portfolio from photographer Sergio Tapiro, which was published in the 15th issue for January-February 2018.
The series of photographs by British artist Tim Flach entitled: Near Death, published in the 16th issue for March-April 2018, won the silver medal.
Tec Review won the bronze thanks to the photo story The Other World Cup, from the 18th issue for July-August 2018, which shows children’s creativity for playing soccer in the remote reaches of Africa.
The ÑH2018 jury, meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, chose the best designed publications of the year in different categories.
Some 2,318 works were submitted in the Ibero-American competition from 113 media outlets in 12 countries. The volume of works exceeds the number registered in previous years.
The jury is comprised of renowned professionals and academics in editorial design such as:
- John Alexander Univio Parra (Grupo Nación, Costa Rica)
- Constanza Almarza (UC, Chile)
- Miguel Angel Jimeno (University of Navarra, Spain)
- Ricardo Bermúdez (La Prensa, Panama)
- Carlos Caneiro (Las Provincias, Spain), to name but a few.
In the four years since it was launched, which translates into 26 bimonthly issues, Tec Review has won one gold medal, one silver medal and two mentions at the SPD Awards.
The awards are considered to be the ‘Oscars of Editorial Design’.
Tec Review is a publication from Tec de Monterrey that specializes in Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship.
The magazine is managed and coordinated by Ana Torres, edited by Alberto Bello as editor-in-chief, with Carlos Gutiérrez Bracho and Aminetth Sánchez as print editors, and published by Grupo Expansión.
