Tec de Monterrey leads Latin America in graduate employability and holds 79th place in the world, according to the Global University Employability Ranking 2019.
The Tec went up 19 places compared with the previous year in this evaluation from the human resources consulting firm Emerging, which is published by the company Times Higher Education (THE).
Since it first entered this world ranking in 2015, the Tec has advanced 31 places. This is the first time it has occupied first place in Latin America.
“We’re very proud of the impact of Tec graduates (EXATEC) in the world. This position is a result of their excellent performance,” said David Garza, Rector of Tecnológico de Monterrey.
“We congratulate our teachers. This commits us to keep offering an educational experience of the highest quality, so that future graduates can become agents of change,” he added.
Neil Hernández Gress, Research Director at the Tec, explained that this ranking was earned thanks to the opinions of 8,000 employers from 24 countries, including recruiters, directors, managers, and employees.
“For the Tec, this is a very important achievement, which is the result of the placement of all our students and alumni in industry,” he emphasized.
More than 5,000 institutions were ranked, and the ranking identifies the top 250 educational institutions around the world.
Other Mexican institutions that appear in the ranking are the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the University of Guadalajara (UdeG).
The countries that have the best positioned universities in the employability ranking are the US, the UK, France, Germany, and China.
What’s more, Germany, Japan, and the UK each have a university in the Top 10. Chinese and Canadian universities also appear in the ranking.
Those universities leading the ranking are Harvard University, the California Institute of Technology, MIT, the University of Cambridge, and Stanford University.
The surveys were applied in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, the US, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Qatar, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, China, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.
