Tecnológico de Monterrey rose 20 places in the QS World University Ranking 2020, placing it as the 158th university in the world.

In 9 years, the Tec has climbed more than 200 places, going from number 387 to the Top 160 in this list. It is also among the 30 best private universities in the world.

What’s more, Tec de Monterrey holds its place as the number 5 university for the entire region in the Latin America University Rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking.

For Salvador Alva, President of Tec de Monterrey, this progress over 9 years reflects the collaborative work of the entire Tec community and is a result of the institution knowing how to transform itself.

“The Tec is known for reinventing itself in the face of the challenges that confront it. To address the world’s new challenges and continue our constant innovation, we need to constantly refocus our strategy, always based on what we’ve built over more than 75 years of history,” he said.

“We’re grateful to a society that has provided us with its support and trust, and we share our achievements with it. We’re an institution that comes from society and is for society,” said David Garza, Rector of Tec de Monterrey.

“We know that universities are engines that contribute to the world’s economic, social, political, and environmental development; we’re always striving to realize our vision and surpass society’s expectations of us,” he added.

RESULTS AND PROGRESS IN THE QS UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

The Tec’s rise of 20 places to reach the Top 160 was driven by strength in various metrics, such as employer reputation, where it went up from 67th to 53rd in the world.

What’s more, the Tec rose 20 places in the metric of academic reputation and was positioned as number 1 in Latin America in the metric of international faculty ratio.

This is also the third consecutive year that the Tec has remained within the top 200 of the best universities in the world since it entered this group in 2017.
