Tec students awarded fellowships by MIT CTL

A group of students, made up mostly of women, will have the option to take a postgraduate degree in Supply Chain Management at MIT or specialized centers located in China, Luxembourg, Malaysia, or Spain.

Seven students from the Tec School of Engineering and Sciences received MIT Supply Chain Excellence Awards fellowships after responding to the call, in which students from 8 other universities participated internationally.

María Ileana Ruiz, Director of the Industrial and Systems Engineering (IIS) program at the Tec‘s Monterrey campus , said that this is the third consecutive year in which students from the School of Engineering and Sciences have responded to the call from this initiative promoted by the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL).

“They (MIT) have an annual recognition that consists of a fellowship to study the Master’s in Supply Chain Management at one of the most recognized centers worldwide, such as the CTL. Once students graduate, the fellowship is applied three years later,” said Ruiz, who is also a professor at the Tec.

Mit-interior — This is the third consecutive year in which students from the School of Engineering and Sciences have responded to the call from this initiative promoted by the Center for Transportation and Logistics.

María Ileana Ruiz, who coordinates actions linked to the MIT Supply Chain Excellence Awards at the Tec added that on this occasion, 27 IIS students applied at a national level, 70% of which were female students, all due to graduate this 2020 and in search of a fellowship abroad.

The award is divided into two categories: “Award Winners” and “Honorable Mentions”; both offer the possibility of applying to enroll onto the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics Master‘s program, or to opt for the Master‘s program in the “MIT SCALE” centers located in China, Luxembourg, Malaysia, or Spain.

MIT-INTERIOR-2 — On this occasion, 27 students applied for a scholarship abroad, of which 70% were female.

Due to the health emergency that several countries in the world are going through, the organizers carried out a Virtual Ceremony for the first time, which was chaired by Josué Velázquez, Executive Director of Supply Chain Management MIT. Students aspiring to the award were invited, as well as the teachers and directors of the schools that participated in the call.

There, the Dean of the School of Engineering and Sciences, Manuel Zertuche Guerra, recognized the effort and enthusiasm of the Tec students who managed to access this fellowship program due to their academic profiles (including high-level analytical skills, command of the English language, and leadership).
