This initiative is the first of its kind in Latin America, and its 2024 call for applications is open until May 8th, said Sabrina Seltzer, Director of Transfer and Entrepreneurship at the IFE.

“In this incubation program, the selected participants will have access to workshops, content, and materials that will help them realize their EdTech project, highlighted Seltzer.

- Benefits of the IFE Explora incubation program

IFE Explora seeks to support and guide individuals and teams who are passionate about transforming the education sector. It has a duration of approximately five months and is free of charge for selected participants.

“Over the first three months, they will have access to workshops, content, and materials that have to do with how to develop their EdTech idea,” Seltzer explained.

“What’s more, there will be feedback sessions from experts to guide them in the process. At the end of the third month, there will be a Demo Day, when each individual or team will show their progress to investors, press, partners, mentors, and other selected experts,” she added.

Specific benefits include:

  • Format: online.
  • There is no cost to selected participants.
  • Workshops: 11 online sessions in business and education to strengthen the idea (on topics ranging from education trends, business models, intellectual property, and emerging innovative technologies in education).
  • Feedback: 2 group feedback sessions to which experts will be invited and you can show your progress.
  • EOS Platform: A project management platform, with material from the sessions and other exclusive videos.
  • Personalized mentoring: After the training stage, the most committed and advanced projects will be selected for assignment to a specialized mentor.
  • Connections: Access to the LATAM EdTech community for networking with established entrepreneurs.
  • Exclusive events: Invitations to EdTech community events, as well as discounts for the IFE Conference in January 2025.

- Participant profile

Gómez explained that this program is looking for people who have an EdTech idea in the early stages or in the research phase and who don’t know where to begin.

These business ideas may be in the early stages or in the research phase, whose products and/or services radically improve Pre-K, K-12, Higher Education, or Lifelong Learning, with the aim and potential for growth in the Latin American market.

“The program will help them take a step-by-step approach, situating them in this process, so as to end up with a prototype that allows them to obtain these first integrations, to see if it works quickly,” said the EdTech Transfer Coordinator of IFE.

As part of the participant profile, candidates must:

  • Be of legal age and have the legal capacity to be bound by Mexican law.
  • Have demonstrated proficiency in Spanish.
  • In the case of a team, all members must meet the first requirement, and at least one team member must be fluent in Spanish.
  • Have the motivation and genuine interest in solving a problem in the education sector through the development of educational solutions based on the application of scientific or technological discoveries and/or developments.
  • Be willing to be challenged, question and explore their own and others’ assumptions and ideas, actively listen, carry out self-learning, and be curious and inquisitive.
  • If applicants have an idea or project, it must have been recently created at the time of application or no more than 12 months old and it must be fully owned by them.
