The Mexican College Football Showcase between Borregos Monterrey and Autenticos Tigres ended 13-10 in favor of the team from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León.
This match, held at the Houston Texas NRG Stadium, marks the kickoff of the 2023 ONEFA Major League Football season for both teams.
The match was attended by 8,000 fans, who enjoyed the event in an NFL stadium.
Borregos Monterrey’s next match will be on September 22 against Borregos Puebla at Banorte Stadium: Home of the Borregos.

In the first quarter, there was little offensive activity, with only Leonardo Guajardo of Borregos Monterrey missing a field goal.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Autenticos Tigres went up on the scoreboard, thanks to a 31-yard field goal by Reynaldo Blanco.
After some good defensive plays by Borregos Monterrey, mainly a tackle by Rodrigo Aceves on Tigres quarterback Patricio Quiroga and timely plays by Renzo Bibiano, the home team managed to tie the score.

Leonardo Guajardo kicked a 25-yard field goal with two and a half minutes left before halftime to even the score.
In the third quarter, Auténticos Tigres increased their score when running back Axel Montini reached the diagonals on fourth down and one yard to touchdown.
Borregos Monterrey tied the score with 18 seconds left in the third quarter, thanks to a play between Fernando Sarabia and Héctor Ramírez, making the score 10-10 after the extra point.
In the last quarter, with 52 seconds left, Blanco kicked a field goal to make the final score 13-10 in favor of Autenticos Tigres.
Learning from the match
The result of the game and playing in an NFL stadium was a learning experience for the players, said Borregos Monterrey coach Carlos Altamirano.
“It was a pretty tough match with last-minute decisions. I’m proud of the decisions made on fourth down.
“We need to learn from this and take the next step; we’re already focusing on Tec Puebla now,” said Carlos Altamirano.
