Tec de Monterrey has been invited to participate in World Economic Forum activities for Davos 2023, thus becoming the only Latin American university with an official presence at the summit.
Rector and Executive President David Garza will represent the Tec from January 16 to 20 at this global summit.
This meeting will bring together more than 2,500 government, enterprise, and civil society leaders to discuss the topic of “Cooperation in a Fragmented World.”
The Tec will form part of the select group of 17 universities to be represented by their leaders, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the National University of Singapore, and the University of Tokyo.
“Receiving this invitation is an honor, which enables us to renew our commitment to strengthening the Tec’s internationalization efforts, thus allowing us to make a greater impact to the benefit of society,” emphasized Garza.
Davos 2023 aims to be a key platform for encouraging solutions with a vision of the future and addressing the most pressing global challenges through public-private cooperation.
The Tec was invited to participate in the following sessions:
- Global University Leaders Forum
- Reskilling Revolution Champions
- Global Collaboration Village Science Campus
- The Edison Alliance, a platform that seeks to eradicate the global digital divide.
“Receiving this invitation is an honor (...) allowing us to make a greater impact to the benefit of society,” David Garza, Rector and Executive President of the Tec.
What’s more, Garza will also attend sessions on subjects connected with technology, the future of work, and skills for the future.
“This participation forms part of our 3 “I” strategy of Investigation, Innovation, and Internationalization,” stressed the Rector.
This comes in addition to other invitations that have been made in the international academic sphere. In 2022, David Garza joined the boards of international academic organizations on the Tec’s behalf, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), and Universitas 21 (U21).
