Four of Tec de Monterrey’s online postgraduate training units have been certified by global organization Quality Matters for meeting their standards for high-quality course design.
“Social Responsibility, Ethics, and Sustainability,” “Sustainable Development Leadership,” “Business Integration Project,” and “Foresight and Innovation” were certified on this occasion.
Quality Matters is a global organization that certifies the quality of digital teaching models and online learning.
The Tec and Quality Matters worked together on training, adjusting design processes, and incorporating resources such as augmented, virtual, and immersive reality.
“We’re interested in aligning all the other courses, including those offered at the institution, so they can follow these Quality Matters rubrics and standards,” shared Maribell Reyes Millán, Director of Digital Education at Tec de Monterrey.
The educational institution holds four of the six certifications found in Latin America.
Social Responsibility, Ethics, and Sustainability
This course is part of the Master’s in Business Administration and was enriched with educational resources based on feedback from Quality Matters.
Case studies, interviews with international experts, and the global ecological footprint exercise were introduced to promote ethical and responsible practice.
Sustainable Development Leadership
This course is taught on the four online master’s programs at the School of Engineering and Sciences.
Accessibility and student experience were the basis for enriching this course with practical exercises.
Business Integration Project
This is also part of the Master’s in Business Administration and will begin in January 2022. It will offer personalized advice from full-time and specialized professors.
What’s more, it will link academic learning with the workplace through the experience of consulting and the implementation of solutions to a company or organization’s problems.
Foresight and Innovation
This was the first Tec de Monterrey course in Latin America to be certified by Quality Matters in 2019.
It’s part of the Master’s in Business Administration that provides skills such as problem solving, entrepreneurship and innovation, and global perspective.
Joint work between QM and Tec de Monterrey
This collaboration between Tec de Monterrey and Quality Matters seeks to promote academic quality in distance education programs with the aim of improving student learning and development.
Universities can go through the certification process without having to be partners with Quality Matters.
The review process is performed by academics from various universities and educational institutions.
“The goal of this partnership between Tec de Monterrey and Quality Matters is to jointly develop research topics and establish quality standards for Latin America,” shared Reyes.
This way, they can provide training to teachers in order to apply standards of quality and guidance on improving the quality of courses.
“We’ve carried out a whole process of standardization in the design for online teaching,” explained Reyes.
The institution has also certified teachers and instructional designers to meet Quality Matters rubrics.
“The goal of aligning our courses with these standards is to ensure the best online learning experience for students,” Reyes said.
