Karla Prieto and Fernanda Ruiz, graduation candidates from the Tec’s San Luis Potosí campus, have won scholarships allowing them to study for a master’s degree in Supply Chain Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The scholarship provides 25,000 dollars of financial support for students to be able study at the university or one of the MIT Centers around the world.
“I was very excited when they mentioned there was a scholarship like this because I’m so passionate about my studies.” - Fernanda
According to the latest QS World University Rankings, MIT is the best university in the world at which to study this master’s degree, which is why it offers this kind of support for students and professionals who wish to continue studying.
Karla Prieto and Fernanda Ruiz participated in the global MIT Supply Chain Excellence Awards scholarship competition.
“I was very excited when they mentioned there was a scholarship like this because I’m so passionate about my studies and it will open up better professional opportunities,” explained Fernanda.
Thanks to a Tec agreement, the Industrial and Systems Engineering students from the San Luis campus will be awarded a double scholarship: Fernanda at the University of Hull and Karla at the University of Munich.
“At first, I doubted my abilities a lot, but I applied because of my passion and enthusiasm.” - Karla.
“At first, I doubted my abilities a lot, but I applied because of my passion and enthusiasm. When I got through the first round, I knew there was a possibility I could win,” Karla remembered about the scholarship’s nomination stage.
After going through all the stages, they received the news that they were Award Winners, the highest award offered. They can opt for a 100% scholarship to study at a center, or a lower percentage to fulfil the dream of studying at MIT in Boston.
The scholarship is very difficult to win, as students from 9 renowned American universities took part, including Texas A&M, Penn State University, and Michigan State University. Tec de Monterrey was the only international university to participate.
“I want to be able to make an impact on my country. I want to make a difference.” - Fernanda.
“I want to be able to make an impact on my country, on my community. I want to use all knowledge that I will gain to make a difference,” shared Fernanda.
