The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2025 have ranked Tecnológico de Monterrey 185th in the world.

It is one of the most important university rankings in the world because of the methods it uses and the volume of information it processes to create its rankings.

In these rankings, the Tec is the university listed as #7 in Latin America and #2 in Mexico. The Tec is ranked #30 in the world among private universities.

More than 5,600 higher education institutions from 106 countries were evaluated for 2025, and 1,503 universities entered the rankings. Mexico has 32 ranked universities.

The Tec ranked among the top 200 universities in the world

David Garza, Rector and Executive President of Tec de Monterrey, thanked those who work at the institution for contributing to its position in this year’s QS rankings.

“A special thanks to the professors, researchers, and employees of Tecnológico de Monterrey for their dedication to work that impacts the teaching, research, and impact of the institution.

“Thanks to this, our students become graduates who make their alma mater proud,” he said.

Feniosky Peña-Mora, Executive Vice President of Research at Tecnológico de Monterrey, highlighted the Tec’s position in the rankings.

“Tec de Monterrey’s position in the QS World University Rankings highlights how our commitment to scientific and applied research is recognized on a global level.

“It not only promotes knowledge but also adds value to the education we provide and has a significant impact on society,” Peña said.

 

The ranking evaluation criteria

The 21st ranking undertaken by British evaluation firm QS included the following criteria with their respective weightings:

  • Academic Reputation (30%)
  • Citations per Faculty (20%)
  • Employer Reputation (15%)
  • Employment Outcomes (5%)
  • Faculty-Student Ratio (10%)
  • International Faculty (5%)
  • International Students (5%)
  • International Research Network (5%)
  • Sustainability (5%)

 

The Tec’s strengths

The institution’s strongest categories in this year’s rankings were:

- Employment Outcomes

The Tec was ranked 43rd worldwide in this ranking criterion.

- Employer Reputation

This is the highest-ranked category for Tec de Monterrey: 47th in the world.
 

- Academic Reputation

In the Academic Reputation category, the institution was ranked 149th in the world.

  • Sustainability: 291st
  • International Faculty: 589th
