TecSalud hospitals have been recognized among the 3 best hospitals in the country, according to “The Best Hospitals in Latin America 2023” rankings published by the América Economía publishing group.
The Zambrano Hellion Hospital came in 2nd place, while San José is in 3rd, both moving up from their positions in the 2021 rankings.
Dr. Guillermo Torre, Rector of TecSalud and Vice President of Research at Tec de Monterrey, said that these results are a sign of the quality of patient care.
“Improving our position in the rankings is the result of the success of our goal to implement innovative care models so we can offer world-class care,” he said.
Both hospitals also rose in Latin America rankings: Zambrano Hellion Hospital rose 16 places compared to 2021, and now ranks 12th.
The San José Hospital rose 13 places, now ranking 20th.

Standing out in 3 areas
The rankings are carried out by the consulting firm Intellat, which provides comparative data about the quality of the health service provision in hospitals and clinics.
They analyze quality indicators relating to 46 hospitals in 10 countries. This year, the rankings was determined by results in 9 areas:
- Patient safety and clinical outcomes (30%)
- People (20%)
- Efficiency (10%)
- Knowledge (9%)
- Prestige (9%)
- Patient experience (7%)
- Technology (6%)
- Remote health care (5%)
- Sustainability (4%)
Based on these, TecSalud hospitals obtained outstanding results in:
- Patient safety and clinical outcomes: Zambrano Hellion Hospital ranked in the top 15 in Latin America.
- Knowledge: Zambrano Hellion Hospital ranked second in Latin America, standing out for its research experience.
- Patient experience: Zambrano Hellion Hospital was ranked in the top 10 in Latin America, rising 21 places.
- Efficiency: San José Hospital ranked in 11th place in Latin America.
- Technology: San José Hospital was ranked in 12th place in Latin America.
The result of a collaborative effort
Only highly complex Latin American health centers were considered in order to participate in these rankings.
One of the requirements is that they offer multiple services in different medical fields, and that they are highly regarded in their respective countries.
Guillermina Sánchez, Medical and Institute Director of TecSalud said that “positively impacting our patients is challenging, but it has become our key aim.”
